Even you may think I’m mixing apples to oranges, both subjects are more related to each other that what they might seem at first sight.
I imagine that one of your main worries is that your kids grow healthy and be happy, ¿am I right? So, I have to congratulate you because you’re not alone, this worries link you to 99,9% of parents of this beautiful world (I don’t dare to say 100% because there’s always someone that is the exception that proves the rule). In this way we could affirm that parents, in general, and you especially, care about the wellbeing of their child. And that is a splendid thing.
But ¿how is that related to clothing?
I’m glad to say that more than you think. Clothes are as important in your kid’s development as any other aspect that may be more popular, like the diet, their toys or books. In fact, it’s a broad topic and I find it really interesting, so, for not going on and on, we’re going to talk about it little by little in different posts.
Going back on track, clothing can promote the wellbeing of your kids, physical and emotional, as long as you watch out for their outfit. One of the main facets you should be careful when dressing your kids is that the clothes you’ve chosen let them move freely. It’s really important that your little ones, either babies, toddlers or infants, feel comfortable and can move their body without any limit. Equally importantly is they don’t feel either the pressure neither suffer chafing in their skin.
They have to be able to crawl without stumble with their own clothes, to bend down or to sit without feeling uncomfortable by the waistband of the garment that are wearing, to move their arms without feeling yanks, etc. You should pay especially attention when they’re babies because they can’t tell you that the reason of their discomfort is the clothes that are wearing.
And why is so important for your children to move easily? Because with their body movements, starts their intellectual development. Thanks to exercising them, their body movements improve and become more complex and accurate.
In the early years of life it’s really important that you encourage their gross motor skill, in other words, that they move their arms and legs, that they creep on the floor, that they crawl and walk… That will help them to know their closest environment and to know their limits regarding it, and at the same time, they’ll feel the need to beat them. If your kids see that they’re able to move grater and grater, they’ll be satisfied with themselves.
By way of illustration how movement and intellectual development go hand in hand, a kid that has quality movement is more likely to start speaking.
As you can see, like most things in life, everything is interconnected. This is not a popular subject, but that doesn’t mean that it’s less relevant. Clothes have an important role in your kid’s growth, and if you know how, you can capitalize on this preventing them from external physical limitations.
Now, I’d like to know your opinion.
Knowing your point of view it’s really important to me, so I’m all ears.
We’ll meet on the comments below.
All the best,
Laia
